TraditionProcess
At Curtidos Lancina, we value the journey of each hide as much as the final product. Our process, enriched by years of experience and dedication, reflects our passion for transforming rawhide.
Here’s an overview of how we handle each phase of production, from the initial selection of hides to the final finishes.
StoreArrival of the skins
Our production begins with the arrival of salted hides from Europe at our warehouses. We begin a grading and cutting process, separating the neck, forelock, and skirt from each piece. Depending on the desired final product, we work with cow and bull hides. These hides undergo a process called “ribera,” which involves various stages such as soaking, liming, deliming, rendering, and pickling, thus preparing the skin for the next stage of tanning.
BootsTanning
Once the hides are prepared, they begin the tanning process. They are placed in large containers called “botas,” where they are immersed in an aqueous solution rich in natural tannins. This tannin bath allows the hides to become saturated, acquiring the desired properties.
After this process, the hides are removed from the boots to begin the drying process.
FinishesPost-production
The final stage of our production focuses on giving the leather its finishing touches. Depending on the customer’s specifications, we apply a series of techniques and treatments to give the leather the perfect finish. These may include trimming, softening, rolling, grinding, and flexing, among others. Each leather is thus transformed into a unique piece, ready to become a quality product.
